Term 3 2023
Visio Divina

Over term 3 at 6:45, we will be using the meditative practice of Visio Divina (Divine Seeing) to meditate and pray to God.
Each week we will spend time together in silence and prayer reflecting on a series of artworks that will be around positioned around the chapel.
The works have been selected by our creative time and are a mixture of old and modern, classical and abstract - we invite you to come and join in this embodied way of prayer.

Term 2 2023
Elizabeth Moore & Audrey Elledge: Liturgies of Hope.

In term 2, alongside our preaching series in Genesis 1-11, we shall be reading, reflecting on, and praying the Liturgies of Hope. Each liturgy has been chosen to correspond to the passage and is a prayer offered from the fullness and the fallow. The prayers come from a number of our embodied experiences of life, from Wrestling with God & Struggling with sin to Not loving our job & struggling with the creative process. The prayers are beautifully written by Audrey and Elizabeth and are full of humour, grace, wisdom, and scripture.

Booklets are available at church,

Term 1 2023
Wendell Berry: The Sabbath Poems.

For our term 1 preaching series, we will explore the rhythms of Spiritual Disciplines. As we do so we will be reading a selection of Wendell Berry’s Sabbath Poems. Reflections on God, Rest, Nature and Humanity the Sabbath poems are a series of poems written by Berry on his Sabbath walks on the land. Our prayer is that they open up to us, not only the wonder of the world around us, but also the wonder of God and the rest he freely gives us and invites us into.

Booklets of the poems will be available at church.
The sabbath poems are available to buy at amazon and selected retailers.

Term 3 2022
Moses: Awe & Wonder, Law & Thunder

Our creative spot will be exploring the figure of Moses himself. Moses: The human, the leader, the prophet, and the vessel of God’s grace, law & judgment. I have titled the series Awe & Wonder, Law & Thunder to reflect the contrasting interplay within the stories of Moses and his character. Art provides a different way to relate to the humanity of Moses, to escape the ‘lullaby effect’ of scripture, and to re-tell the events in his life that lead to this moment, his last great speech.

Term 2 2022
Choruses from ‘The Rock’ - T.S. Elliot

This term we have been reading and reflecting on T.S. Elliot’s Choruses from 'The Rock'. These prophetic writings offer piercing insight into the paradoxical nature of the Church. The indestructible Rock of God and the frail Human institution. The holy Temple and the rotting building. The beloved and the loathed. The harsh and grating yet soft and tender. Elliot calls us to look beyond the four walls of the church and the modern lack of concern for the ‘temple’ to recapture the vision of Christ for his bride. He calls us to see the church as a bastion of light, a beacon of hope and an outpost for the kingdom of God.

‘The church is always rebuilding’
